Book Bento

For my book bento I chose to do it after the book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer written by Mark Twain. For my four objects I chose a bucket of whitewash, a steamboat, a treasure chest, and a wooden fishing rod. For my background I chose a picture of a river appearing to be the Mississippi River. I chose the whitewash because at the start of the book Tom is caught sneaking out and Aunt Polly catches him and makes him whitewash the whole fence line as a punishment. For the steamboat that was inspired by Tom living by the Mississippi River and seeing lots of steamboats go by holding people and cargo. As for the treasure chest that was chosen because in the book at the end Tom and Huck Finn find a treasure chest by the haunted house containing golden coins. Finally I chose the wooden fishing rod because Tom and his friends would go along the banks of the Mississippi River and fish for hours a day using wooden fishing rods.

Book Bentos 2.tif

For my book bento of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn I chose a background of the Mississippi River since that is a main part of the setting. The four images that I chose were a wooden raft, broken chains, a beer bottle, and a pipe. I chose the wooden raft because Huck Finn and the slave Jim travel down the Mississippi River. I chose the broken chains because Huck Finn and Jim travel down the Mississippi River to help Jim escape slavery and the broken chains are a good representation of freedom. I chose the beer bottle because Huck’s dad is an avid alcoholic and is known as the town drunkard. And finally, I chose the pipe because Huck love to smoke a pipe every now and then.
